A new study of professionals who use their computers to work from home shows that being self-employed is more stressful than many people realize. Some work at home professionals experience very high levels of exhaustion. Even working a dream job and realizing an important professional goal won’t guarantee peace of mind.
The Myth of Work at Home
Some people have the wrong idea entirely about working from home -- it’s not the day-long TV fest that some envision. It’s true that work at home professionals have the luxury of doing their jobs from the comfort of their pajamas, get to take breaks whenever they want and enjoy the comfort of being in their own homes (or whatever other venue they choose). But it’s also true that many people who don’t work at home (the spouse and the kids are prime examples) also don’t respect certain boundaries. Professionals have to learn how to balance work, home, family, friends, kids, the mailman and every other daily distraction…while still getting the job done to earn their income.
