10/28-10/30 Wrap Up:DAYTON: The Flyers post 2 more 3 set victories in matches against Charlotte and George Washington. Dayton allows Charlotte to finish the match without recording one block, and Dayton has 15.5 blocks against GW. The 15.5 blocks is the most by the Flyers this year, just above 15 blocks against Pepperdine at UD Arena, however the 15.5 blocks was done in only 3 sets (5.167 Blks/Set) compared to the 5 set match against Pepperdine. Dayton also was able to set Isolde Hannan 11 times against Charlotte and 9 times against GW. This is the first time all year that UD had back to back matches where Isolde had at least 3.0 Attempts per set. (3.67-Char. and 3.00-GW) If more attempts for the middle means good passing, this is a good sign for the Dayton Flyers. Isolde had at least 3.0 attempts per set in three other matches (WGB, Cornell, and Buffalo) but GW is by far the best team they were able to complete this against at RPI 127.
FORDHAM: The Maroon Rams beat Saint Louis for the first time ever and improved their record against the Billikens to 1-10 with a mere 0.066 hitting percentage. Saint Louis had a 2-1 set lead and dominated sets 2 and 3 winning both of them 25-16, but Fordham won sets 4 and 5 25-23 and 15-12 respectively. Saint Louis was held to a 0.146 hitting percentage, but while the hitting percentages were low the blocking totals for both teams were high. Fordham totaled 15 blocks (3.0 Blks/Set) and Saint Louis had 16.5 blocks (3.3 Blks/Set) Fordham maintained an opportunity to reach 6th place in the A-10 while Saint Louis failed to remain solely in 2nd place.
DUQUESNE: Duquesne won 2 matches against Rhode Island and Fordham. When combined with 2 losses by GW, they moved back into 4th place in the A-10. Freshman Arielle Love for DUQ had a breakout weekend recording 5 kills against RI and 13 kills against FOR for a total of 18 kills for the weekend. Those 18 kills are 32.7% of her kills for the year (55 kills). A-10 Freshman of the Week???

11/4-11/6 Preview:
DAYTON vs. XAVIER: After last year's regular season match at Cintas, this year's meeting has a lot to live up to. When all sets are determined by 2 points, 3 of the sets go beyond 25 points, and the match includes 39 tie scores and 15 lead changes, it is safe to call that match a classic. Rivalries like this are fueled by passion and emotion and player's mindset may be as important as skill and experience. Xavier won set 1 at Frericks earlier in the year and that may be enough for the Musketeers to believe they can hang with these Flyers. For the Flyers to finally win at Cintas it took an 18th ranked UD team and a couple of All Americans (Flet. and Yanz). Can this young Dayton team do the same? This will be a good test to see how ready the Flyers are for post-season play and Xavier's last chance to get their name in any at large discussion.
DUQ vs. GW: UD and Xavier may be headlining this weekend, but Duquesne vs. George Washington is a pretty good opening act. Much like the Flyers barely held off X last year in Cintas, the road Dukes barely escaped the nation's capital with a win in 5 sets in 2010. With Duquesne leading GW by one match, this meeting has more standings implications than it's Ohio counterpart. GW has already won 5 set matches against Xavier and Rhode Island at home. Can they add Duquesne to that list?
RHODE ISLAND: Out of all the teams fighting for the 6th place in the A-10, the light blue Rams have a nice path. As long as they don't stumble at home against La Salle and Temple this week they should be in the driver's seat to Dayton and the A-10 Tourney, which is a long drive all the way from New England. After some of the recent upsets (Fordham over SLU and RI over X), nothing is set in stone, so pay attention to Temple @ Rhode Island.
