Transvestite Home Page

Your home page is where you will address your customers and prospects, and where customers come to learn more about your small business. Your website gives you an opportunity to sell to prospects. "Web developers are concerned with layout and graphics that serve primarily to make the website more readable and are not the key drivers. Strip away the bells and whistles that web developers design with flash presentation, rich media, and there is no sale." Bly, Robert W. The Online Copywriter's Handbook. McGrall; 30 Jan. 2003.

There are five characteristics your home page must have:

  1. Your home page should tell the customer about your small business. You must know your audience and think about what they are coming to learn about your business.
  2. Describe the products or service you offer. Describe your business or introduce your service, but keep in mind the interest of your online audience.
  3. Your home page should have a killer headline. Your headline is very important and you must give a lot of thought to it. It must attract attention and interest to your home page. "Always bear these facts in mind. People are hurried. The average person worth cultivating has too much to read. They skip three-fourths of the reading matter which they get. They are not going to read your business talk unless you make it worth their while and let the headline show it." Hopkins, Claude "Scientific Advertising." Cosimo Classics; 1 Dec. 2007
  4. Stress some benefits. It amazes me how many consultants have only a business card on their service, and if you ask them to tell you something about their business they look puzzled or they boast on and on about themselves. Do you give quality service, a money back gaurantee, are you cheaper than the competition, or do you offer free delivery? Your home page is a great place to show benefits.
  5. Email address. An email address with a link directly to your mail box for the customer should be on your home page, which can drive sales. Sometimes a client or customer would like to contact you by email, and they should have that option.

In conclusion, your home page for your website should be well thought out and planned because with so much competition on the internet, you have but a few seconds before the prospect clicks on another website. A well-designed home page is a powerful tool for your small business's website. These are just some of the elements that your home page should contain.
