Yard sales provide a sense of community spirit and are a great way of getting rid of excess clutter. Not only do you get to socialize with neighbors and friends, but you may discover your basement does have a floor after all. And, you'll find that making a few extra bucks isn't the only thing to be gained.
A good yard sale takes plenty of preparation when it comes to pricing items, setting up and advertising for the big day. Therefore, knowing what to expect from buyers can be helpful after putting in all that effort. There are the socializers, the hagglers (sometimes known as "professional buyers") and unfortunately, the cheapskates (stealers).
Socializers
The socializers are the most enjoyable, as all they want to do is talk. If you have the time and business is slow, they can be a great distraction to an otherwise long day. Talking is a form of networking; of getting to know people and simply brightening their day and yours in return.
