Today’s communication methods vary greatly from those used just 20 years ago. Once, communication options consisted of the postal service, messaging services, Ma Bell, and other similar choices. Today, consumers have a plethora of opportunities for sending and receiving information. One of the newcomers to the list is internet phone calls or VoIP. When deciding whether internet phones are the answer for home or business use, there are several things to keep in mind.
People Who Should Not Get Internet Phone Call Service
Just because internet phone services, also known as VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol), are available does not mean that they are great for every person. To determine if one will benefit from VoIP, here are a few considerations:
If one has young children or has any health concerns and live alone, then internet phone may not be the best choice. Since internet phone services work over a computer’s broadband connection, it relies on electricity. Consequently, in the case of an electrical outage, one would not have phone service thus making it impossible to call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. (Of course, having a cell phone can negate this concern.)
