“Tom was very helpful throughout every step of the homebuying process. I saw well over 100 houses and ended up buying in a shortsale situation that took a while; and Tom was instrumental in making sure I had options available and was protected throughout the whole process along with making sure I got what I really wanted. I will definitely go back to Tom when it’s time to move again.” January 2011

Sullivan took No. 1 seed Blair Oaks to double overtime on Friday night in the semifinals of the St. James Tournament, but the Falcons prevailed in the end.

Blair Oaks had two buzzer-beating shots at the end of regulation and the first overtime, then outscored the Eagles 16-6 in the second overtime.

Sullivan will play for third place tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. against Salem. The loss snapped the Eagles’ five-game winning streak.

Justin Biermann led the Eagles with 22 points and provided all the scoring in the first overtime period. Sullivan led 78-74 late, but a three-point play by Austin Kempker cut the deficit to one. Biermann was fouled with under 20 seconds to play. He could only get the second shot, which led to Kempker hitting a jumper at the buzzer.

Blair Oaks spent most of the fourth quarter playing catch-up, while Sullivan just needed to hit their free throws to win. Patrick Moody, who scored 18 points in the game, missed the second of two shots with under 10 seconds to play in regulation. That gave Blair Oaks about four seconds to set up a shot.

A long inbounds pass to the paint turned into a miss, but Henke grabbed the rebound and scored as time expired.

Sullivan had led by as many as five in the fourth quarter, but Blair Oaks hit timely baskets.

In the second overtime, Blair Oaks led 87-79 less than two minutes into the period. Sullivan struggled to control the ball and in turn, the Falcons pounced.

The second half played out much differently than the first, when Blair Oaks had control.. They led 23-12 midway through the second quarter, but Sullivan closed out the half on a run and trailed just 31-28 at the half.

Blair Oaks jumped all over Sullivan by draining 3-pointers in the first quarter. Nick Cooper caught fire and hit three, but would not score again the rest of the night. He fouled out in the fourth quarter.

Brett Voss and Kyle Distler also hit a few 3-pointers to build a cushion for the Falcons.

Sullivan set up in a 2-3 zone defense to slow down 6-7 center Kellen Brondel. Blair Oaks took advantage by shooting right over the Eagles zone.

Late in the second quarter, Sullivan found their stroke from beyond the arc, with Biermann and Moody hitting a succession of 3-pointers to cap off a 14-2 run for the Eagles. They led 26-25 after trailing 23-12.

Voss answered back with a 3-pointer of his own and the Falcons took the lead into halftime.

Blair Oaks got up on Sullivan by as many as 10 in the third quarter, but again the Eagles rallied and eventually found themselves ahead.

In the last two minutes of regulation, Blair Oaks could not find the basket and watched many easy shots rim out. Sullivan was unable to hold the Falcons back when it counted the most.

Sullivan played the the overtime periods without Adam Weiland and Austin Coleman. Coleman had 15 points, but fouled out going for a steal with 23 seconds left.

Coleman’s 15 points were a season high for the senior guard. Weiland scored one point.

JC Beckett also fouled out for the Eagles. He scored nine points.

Uriah Heady had 17 points and Blake Fuchs added three.

Kempker led the Falcons with 20 points.
